TUITION
$22 per half hour, payable monthly in advance and no later than the first lesson of the month. A 45 minute lesson is $33 and an hour is $44, but these are recommended for advanced or adult students only.

FAMILY DISCOUNT
When two or more members of a family are enrolled (including adults), the half hour rate is $20 per student. A 45 minute lesson is $30 and an hour is $40.

FREQUENCY
Lessons are held weekly. Just as in learning a foreign language, repetition is the key to learning music. All students beyond the primer level are expected to practice a minimum of 5 days per week for 20-30 minutes each session. Our weekly lesson is your opportunity to demonstrate the work you've done at home. Lesson time is NOT practice time! Without a committment to practice, progress will elude you.

IN-HOME OPTION
Several local companies, like Melody Music and Mobile Music Academy, offer in-home lessons. I have found that travel time makes this option unfeasible unless I charge an extra fee. If you cannot come to one of my locations, and are willing to cover my travel time, I will teach in your home. Lessons must be scheduled before or after my regular shift, and there is a one hour minimum at the rate of $50 per session.

SUMMER VACATION
If you are taking the summer off from lessons and want to keep the same day and time for your return in the fall, you must reserve your spot with an advance payment.

MISSED LESSONS
Call or email me at least a day in advance with a cancellation, and there will be no penalty. A lesson that must be missed for a valid reason such as illness, family travel, etc. will be made up when sufficient notice is given. If you cannot schedule a makeup, I will credit you towards the next month's tuition. Naturally, if I cancel lessons due to inclement weather or a personal conflict (such as a wedding rehearsal), you will either receive a makeup or a credit.

PENALTIES
If I have to call you to find out where your child is, even if he/she is absent due to illness, it's considered a missed lesson and must be paid for. Depending on the circumstances, I may elect to offer a makeup, but if you do not take it, a credit will NOT be issued. Neither makeups nor credits will be given for forgotten lessons. If you withdraw your child without prior notice mid-month, there will be no refund.

MISCELLANEOUS
There are no registration fees or contracts. Lessons are offered year-round. Auditions are not required, but I invite new students and their families to meet with me (at no charge) to get acquainted before signing up.

Two recitals per year in May and December are held as celebrations of learning. Participation is expected of all students through high school. There are currently no recital fees.

Method books are available from Mr. James at an average cost of $30 for a set of four. There are no other costs unless one wishes to purchase a supplement (such as the Christmas companion book), a music book bag, or a metronome.
